TECHNIQUES FOR ENHANCING EFFICIENCY IN EYELASH

If you’re new to the eyelash artistry field, you might find the process of isolating each lash time-consuming or perceive your work as untidy. However, there are techniques to expedite lash isolation while maintaining a high standard of quality.
It’s crucial not to rush through this step! It’s imperative to allocate sufficient time and ensure proper isolation for each lash to prevent any damage or premature shedding of the extensions. Insufficient or hasty isolation may result in the client’s natural lashes adhering to one another during the removal process, leading to numerous complications.

WHAT IS LASH SEPARATION?

Separation involves the act of individually distinguishing each lash from adjacent lashes to facilitate the application of extensions without any hindrance. This guarantees a seamless and harmonious integration of the extensions with the client’s own lashes.

Lash separation holds utmost importance, especially for clients with sparse or thin lashes, as these lashes tend to clump together, posing challenges during the extension application process.
A crucial element in achieving flawless lash sets is the act of separation since it safeguards the integrity of the natural lashes. Each of our eyelashes undergoes a growth cycle, and if any of them are bonded together, they will not be able to shed naturally as intended. Separation, on the other hand, enables the natural shedding process to take place.

There are numerous advantages of adequate lash separation:

⦁ It aids in safeguarding the integrity of the natural lashes, maintaining their health, and preventing them from becoming entangled in the adhesive or bonding agent used during the application procedure.
⦁ The advantages of proper separation are plentiful, with enhanced retention being of utmost significance. If the adhesive is applied improperly, it may trickle down onto the natural lashes, causing them to stick together and impeding their natural growth. By appropriately isolating each lash, their natural growth rate is preserved, and the occurrence of lash clumping or premature shedding is minimized.

⦁ Properly isolating the natural lashes helps to minimize breakage and damage when removing the extensions.
⦁ Your clients will enjoy longer and healthier lashes. You can be confident that any issues or infections experienced by your lash clients upon their return are not attributed to incorrect lash application.

So you may be curious about expediting your technique. After all, this can be a time-consuming procedure, and it may give the impression that you’re investing an excessive amount of time on a single lash. But fret not! Here are four approaches to assist in accelerating the process:

1 UTILIZE LASH STRIPS

There are numerous methods to separate lashes. One of the most widely utilized techniques involves the utilization of lash strips. If you haven’t yet experimented with strips, we strongly recommend giving them a try! They prove to be particularly advantageous for lash isolation, particularly when dealing with clients having a dense lash line and abundant natural lashes. The strips can prove to be immensely helpful while working on clients with a substantial number of natural lashes. To prevent excessive discomfort for your client, it may be advisable to reduce the adhesive strength of the strips based on the specific type of strip and its level of adhesiveness. Prior to applying the strips to your client, you can swiftly eliminate the adhesive residue from your hand.

2 EMPLOY EYE PADS

While tape can be utilized for lash isolation, it can be a tad intricate to handle. For a gentler alternative or when dealing with clients who are more sensitive, eye pads are the ideal choice. They offer a softer and more comfortable experience compared to tape. Eye pads are effortless to apply and remove, leaving no residue behind. Furthermore, they provide greater flexibility, allowing you to move and adjust them as needed during the lash application process.
Alternatively, you can consider employing a combination of both eye pads and tape. Applying a layer of eye pads on top of the tape serves as an added safeguard, minimizing the risk of accidental lash pulling or damage when removing the tape from your client’s eyelids.

3 UTILIZE YOUR HANDS

Do you ever find it frustrating when attempting to separate your client’s lashes and accidentally brushing against the neighboring ones? Another alternative is to employ your hands instead of tweezers, which may prove to be more convenient for certain lash artists. When practicing isolation, using your fingers allows you to tactfully discern the precise location of each lash, thus avoiding any unintended contact with adjacent lashes. The sensitivity of your fingers makes them an ideal tool for this purpose. This technique is particularly useful when working on clients who already have lash extensions, as it enables you to maneuver around the existing extensions with greater ease.
For instance, if your client still has extensions in place, you can freely utilize your ring finger to gently reposition the lashes, allowing you to subsequently isolate them using your opposite hand holding the tweezers.

4 UTILIZING LASH FORCEPS

The process of lash isolation can pose challenges, considering the presence of numerous lashes in motion and the need for clear visibility. The optimal approach for isolating lashes involves the utilization of a pair of forceps.
While most artists isolate lashes without employing their pick-up forceps, employing both forceps simultaneously greatly facilitates the maneuvering and separation of your client’s delicate lashes. When using both forceps for isolation, it is advisable to position your isolation forceps at a downward and inward angle towards the lashes. Simultaneously, you can angle the pick-up forceps upwards, gently lifting and displacing the eyelashes to ensure an unobstructed view and aid in isolation.
For beginners, we highly recommend employing both forceps for lash isolation. This technique will streamline the lash application process, making it more effortless and efficient.
